PROJECTS

Have you ever been hospitalized and felt like you needed a nurse but could not find one? Current global health statistics reveal that patient-to-nurse ratio in the United States is 4:1, compared to a ballpark ratio of 20:1 in Uganda, and this disparity is disturbingly also prevalent in active labor, delivery and postpartum units.

This is the reason why our E’kubo team has found it necessary to partner with Kamuli Hospital in Uganda, National University in San Diego, and Jolina Simpson Lactation Consultants in Nevada to roll out the “ME” volunteer project.

The “Me” project, also dubbed (grandmothers or Jajjas’ Project) is projected to provide year-round volunteer interns to assist in Maternity Wards. We will be providing in collaboration with our partners, education and training that will involve hands-on experience and grounded understanding of stages of labor.

Our ultimate goal is not only to provide more hands on deck to achieve our strategic objective of reducing maternal mortality, but also to create extra income for our participating grandmothers who will be assisting us with this project.
